Seeking Founding Board Members

Your expertise and experience will shape our future.

We are the Foundation for a Healthy North Dakota. We are focused on empowering individuals, families, and communities to make informed health decisions.

You are interested in improving maternal and child health, immunization, food systems, physical activity, and health equity, and you’re willing to serve as an active advocate and ambassador for FHND. You’re prepared to fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary to advance our mission. You are experienced in community outreach, fundraising, and evaluation, with knowledge about public health or social sciences. You’re interested in building coalition membership throughout North Dakota. You’re also willing to prepare for, attend, and conscientiously engage in board meetings and actively participate in one or more committees.

What you will do: As the leadership body of the organization and to satisfy its fiduciary duties, the board is responsible for determining the mission and goals of the organization; selecting and evaluating the performance of the Executive Director; strategic and organizational planning; ensuring strong fiduciary oversight and financial management; fundraising and resource development; approving and monitoring programs and services; enhancing the organization’s public image, and assessing its own performance as the governing body.

Expectations:

·     Attend four meetings per year (held virtually on weekdays over the lunch hour).

·     Attend committee meetings.

·     Offer governance and provide insight into the mission, programs, and strategic direction of FHND.

·     Complete a board member orientation.

·     Serve as an advocate and ambassador for FHND and fully engage in identifying resources and partnerships necessary for the organization to advance its mission.
