Hunger
It might surprise people outside of North Dakota to know that people still face hunger in a food-producing, agricultural state like ours. Over 42,000 North Dakotans and 1 in 13 children in our state need better access to nutritious, healthy foods.
The Foundation for a Healthy North Dakota is bringing together health and hunger relief advocates from across the state to promote food access as a foundation stone of public health.
To Fight hunger is to promote health
The long-term health of our communities depends on investing in the healthy development of our children’s brains and bodies. One of the most foundational ways to build health as individuals and as communities is through what, and how often, we eat. When the most basic of our needs are met, our communities thrive.
inflation not only squeezes our pocket books, but also our plates
As the cost of food increases, so does the need to ensure all North Dakotans have access to healthy, nutritious foods. Nationally, more and more Americans are just one paycheck away from facing hunger. We must protect North Dakota from the same fate.
healthy food is more than nutrition
Our families and communities come together around food. By advocating for all North Dakotans to have access to healthy foods, we’re speaking to the very heart of our communities — caring about one another’s health, and nourishing our connections.
